PERMANENT MAKEUP

PERMANENT MAKEUP

  • Microblading is a manual semi-permanent makeup technique resulting in realistic eyebrow drawing. Your brow shape is mapped out to your natural features.

The process is done by using a tool which looks like a blade consisting of 10-12 tiny needles and some specially designed pigments. The blade delicately scratches the surface of the skin mimicking the hair strokes.

Once the eyebrows are ‘mapped’, the microblading pigment is gently inserted into the scratch’s, making them look like genuine hairs. The entire process gives the brow a thicker, fuller & more natural look.

  • Also known as ombre powder brows, mist brows or microshading, is a technique that has been gaining a lot of popularity.

This technique is semi-permanent and is performed with a permanent make-up machine. Combinations of dots and shading achieve a very soft powdered, pixel effect that resembles eyebrow pencil or powder. The result is powdery brows that resemble a makeup look – a faded front and a crispy tail.

  • Pigment retention varies based on several factors. On average, expected time until a Microblading touch-up is 10 to 12 months (3-6 months for oily skin) and 1-2 years for Powder Brows. Post care makes 70% of pigment retention success.

Ultimately results vary based on lifestyle, skin type, health and the way the you take care of your brows after the actual procedure.

    • Skin type plays an important role. Dry skin will retain pigment longer and are great candidates for Microblading. Oily skin has a shorter pigment retention, will need touch-ups more frequently, and are best candidates for Powder Brows.

    • Sweating and sun exposure also affect pigment retention and can result in needing touch-ups sooner.

    • Proper post-treatment care makes a significant difference in results. You can lose up to 80% of pigment if post care directions are not followed.

    • Skin care routine will also impact the longevity of your Microblading & Powder Brows. Use of certain products can instigate a quicker fading process.

Book a touch up appointment as soon as you notice that your brows are fading. If you wait for too long, you may need to repeat the procedure, which requires more time than a touch-up, the healing process is longer and it is more expensive.

  • Even though it sounds scary since there are blades, needles and scratches involved, microblading and powder brow procedures do not really hurt. If necessary numbing cream is available to make you feel more relaxed and comfortable.

  • How successful the procedure is will depend on:

    • Skin quality

    • Post-treatment care

    • Exposure to various external influences

None of these factors are under the Artist’s control, thus providing any guarantee for the treatment is not possible.

Before the treatment always consult with your artist if you:

    • Have problematic skin

    • Have serious health issues

    • Take certain medications

    • Already have an old PMU on your eyebrows

Before the treatment, get familiar with the post-treatment care procedure.

Prior to each treatment the skin should not be burnt, nor in recovery or in a regenerative phase.

If you have dry skin, properly moisturize and prep your skin a few days before the treatment.

    Avoid 48 hours prior:

    • All alcoholic beverages or beverages containing caffeine, as alcohol & caffeine can thin the blood and cause excessive bleeding which will not allow the pigment to be absorbed properly. (Yes, there is caffeine in decaf coffee and tea!)

    • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, or Advil/Ibuprofen. (Unless directed by a Doctor) Avoiding aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (as these types of medications are blood thinners).

    Avoid 7 days prior:

    • Stop taking fish oil or any other natural blood thinners, such as vitamin E.

    • No brow waxing, tinting, or threading.

    Also avoid:

    • 2 weeks prior to the procedure avoid tanning beds and sun tanning.

    • At least 6 weeks prior discontinue Retin-A (or other forms), chemical and laser peels, microdermabrasions, Alpha Hydroxy Acids/Beta Hydroxy Acids (AHA/BHA’s), and any chemical exfoliant or “brightening” skincare.

The following treatments are not recommended 30 days before the treatment:

    • Botox and fillers

    • Fruit or lactic acids

    • Laser treatments

    • Chemical peels

    • Exposure to strong sunlight.

  • After care makes up 70% of your results and is extremely important, especially during the first 48-72 hours. The treated area must be kept clean and dry. The skin is open and can easily get infected if bacteria is allowed in, however, do NOT wash excessively.

30 minutes after the procedure wash the area with neutral soap such as children's wash or Cetaphil gentle wash and apply Skin Candy ointment. PhiWipes are an excellent alternative for washing and always available at an additional cost.

Repeat this process 3 to 5 times in the first 24 hours. If your appointment is in the late evening and you are unable to wash a minimum of 3 times apply ointment and PhiPatch before bed.

In the next 7 days maintain facial hygiene and apply Skin Candy after washing your face or showering. Do not soak your eyebrows, avoid hot and long showers. If brows feel itchy or flaky, which is normal, apply a thin layer of Skin Candy as needed.

    • During the first week of healing avoid all creams, makeup and cleansers (except recommended) in the brow area. Avoid excessive sweating, facials and any grooming of brow hair like waxing or threading.

    • In the next 30 days avoid acne treatments, regenerative creams, excessive sun exposure and always use SPF protection after 7 days.

Must be avoided during ALL 14 days post procedure:

    • Increased sweating or workouts.

    • Makeup or creams other than Skin Candy.

    • Swimming, jacuzzi, hot baths, or hot saunas.

    • Tanning of any kind or prolonged exposure to UV rays. *This includes airbrush/self tanning.

    • Any laser, facial, chemical treatments or peels.

    • Any creams containing Retin-A (in any form), Glycolic Acid, or any other AHA’s or BHA’s on face or neck.

    • Picking, peeling, or scratching of the Microbladed and/or Micropigmented area to avoid scarring.

    • Performing any kind of deep cleaning or dusting.

    • Do not dye or tweeze eyebrows one week before and after procedure.

Known possible complications from Microblading and/or Micropigmentation are:

Redness, swelling, puffiness, bruising, dry patches, & tenderness. Your new eyebrows will go through several phases during their healing cycle. The pigment will appear very natural looking immediately following and will appear darker the next day.

Contact a physician if any signs or symptoms develop: fever, redness at the site, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, elevated body temperature, red streaks going from the procedure side towards the heart, and/or any green/yellow discharge that is foul in odor.

  • The entire healing process will take approximately 4-6 weeks depending on your body regeneration and age. Your new eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle. The pigment will appear very natural looking immediately following your procedure and will appear darker the next day.

Day 1: Experiencing some redness is perfectly normal. The pigment will fade about 20%-40%, which means that they won’t be as dense and strong as they might appear at this moment.

Day 2: You will have some tenderness, redness and some swelling making the pigment in your brows appear darker.

Days 3 & 4: Redness, pain and tenderness will start to subside. The brows start going from darker to thicker. It's common to start feeling a little itchy as exfoliation is beginning.

Days 5-7: Itching, scabbing and flaking. It’s extremely important NOT to scratch or pick at them! The Microblading healing process might be affected in a very negative way if scabs are picked or scratched off.

Days 8-10: The scabs on your brows start to flake off. The color of your brows will appear a lot lighter, sometimes great and missing in spots. This is a perfectly normal part of the Microblading healing process and the door will clarify after a few more days.

Days 14-21: The healing process is slowly coming to an end! The scabs are gone, the color of your brows is back!

Days 21-30: The healing process is complete! Your skin is healed and your brows look soft and completely natural. This is the time to see if there’s anything you want to add or change. You may notice your skin didn’t take the pigment in some spots which is normal and is one of the reasons for your Perfecting Appointment.

Please be sure to have your Perfecting Appointment within 30-60 days from the date of your initial procedure. I can not guarantee outcome of pigment past that time frame.

Note: Microblading and/or Micropigmentation procedures are affected by the canvas (your skin) that they are performed on. If your skin is sun damaged (even from tanning beds), thick and uneven in texture, or excessively dry or oily the result cannot be expected to be perfect after the procedure. Lifestyle, medications, smoking, metabolism, facial surgery, and age of skin all contribute to fading. Touch-ups are needed 30 days after your initial procedure to ensure the best result and to keep your Microblading and/or Micropigmentation looking the best. Your procedure maintenance, as outlined in your pre/post procedure directions is very important.

I greatly appreciate your understanding and respect for my work and my time.

  • Possibly, there are 3 factors that will determine if microblading can be done to cover a previous permanent makeup procedure. The skin must not be scarred, the color must be faded enough to show the new work and the shape must fit inside the desired natural shape. In most cases a Powder Brow technique may be more appropriate.
